Moomba 2025 Delivers a Kaleidoscope of Culture, Music, and Family Fun

Melbourne’s beloved Moomba Festival returned in full swing for 2025, bringing five days of

vibrant, eclectic entertainment to the city’s iconic MainStage and beyond. With a focus on diversity,

community, and all-ages enjoyment, this year’s lineup offered something for everyone—from

soulful serenades to electrifying dance beats and kid-friendly antics.

The MainStage was a cultural feast of musical talent, showcasing artists from across genres and

backgrounds. R&B and baroque pop artist Saint Ergo set the tone alongside Pirritu, whose First

Nation’s folk resonated with powerful storytelling. High-energy sets from TEK TEK Ensemble

(jungle and disco fusion), Amaru Tribe (Latin American contemporary rhythms), and DJ Retro

Red (funk, hip hop, reggae) kept the crowds moving, while soulful performers like Jordan Ravi

and Umbra Moon offered more mellow moments.

Families were well catered for, with acts like the beloved Teeny Tiny Stevies, Riot Baby’s kids’

punk energy, and former Wiggle Emma Memma lighting up young faces. Luigi Zucchini added

magic to the mix, literally, and Yours, Georgina blended music with storytelling to enchant

listeners of all ages.

Moomba 2025 also celebrated global cultures through performance. WALA – Is Life delivered a

thrilling West African dance spectacle, while Wadaiko Rindo’s taiko drums echoed through the

parklands. Mariachi Los Romanticos, La Descarga, and the Dili Allstars brought international

flair with Mexican, Latin, and Timorese influences.

Poetic storytelling had its moment too, with artists like Mika James, Lily Papas, and Bec

Sandridge delivering emotionally rich performances. Crowd-pleasers like Sugar Fed Leopards

(doo-wop rock 'n’ roll), Zoe Rocket and the Rocket Clocks (60s folk pop), and the smooth stylings

of Big Words rounded out the sonic feast.

Beyond the music, the festival grounds were packed with activities: adrenaline-pumping jetpack

shows, a haunted house, wakeboarding and ski shows on the Yarra, plus skate competitions for

the thrill-seekers. Families enjoyed mini golf, dance classes, creative workshops, and even a

silent disco for those wanting to groove in their own soundscape.

With its sprawling program and inclusive spirit, Moomba 2025 once again proved why it remains

One of Melbourne’s most cherished cultural celebrations—where music, movement, and magic meet

on the banks of the Yarra.
